BIOGRAPHY
David Augusto José Losada Velasquez, aka David Velasquez, is an actor and musician based in the Colombian city of Bogotá. Aquired his artistic name as a tribute to Jose Joaquin Velasquez, his grandfather, who from the beginning promoted and sponsored his career.
David was born in Bogota on May 29, 1987. Grew up in Palmira, a town near Cali, Valle del Cauca. He studied composition and music production at the Andes University and complement these studies with an academic option at this university also basic psychological processes.
As relates to his acting career, David Velasquez has been prepared with great masters of the national scenic area. Their formation process begins Tarantino's academy directed by Adrián Jiménez and then continues his path of learning assembly house, both institutions located in Bogota.
After this and passing through various workshops, in August 2010 started working with actor "Kiko" Rubiano, who from this time became his teacher and current mentor. This four years process with "Kiko" has been fundamental to the artistic development of Velasquez.
David began to exercise performance short independent films, then institutional projects and later in university projects (U. Manuela Beltran, U.Politecnico, U. Javeriana). Over the years he managed to get a place in local TV channels (Tele amiga) and now has made the leap to the major TV channels and production companies in the country such as RCN, Caracol Television RTI respectively.
As far as theatre is concerned, his experience began in late 2012 debuting as starring in a comic show called "Ensalada de Locos" directed by Mauricio Jaramillo. Velasquez received in addition to his theatrical training, mimic workshop delivered in 2012 by Maestro Daniel Rojas Galeano who took classes at Jose Sanchiz Sinistrerra in España.
In this day, David works in workshops acting training at Kiko Rubiano's academy, JN Productions actress and Juliana Velasquez in Jits Theatre Productions and Baranda. Velasquez inside his passion not only for the Performance and music, but also pedagogy, also focuses its efforts on training artistically ages 4-6 from vulnerable sectors of the capital. This work is part of a driven Bogotá Mayor's Office, which is part Velasquez program.
Last but not least this Velasquez forward with the support of their Managers Paola Gutierrez and Marcela Leal (Jits Productions) their preparation to enter the world of cinema; a scenario in which no doubt this young but promising Colombian actor will give many surprises. To do this, you have taken in the past year several courses and acting workshops focused on this art, including a workshop highlights diction with Yadira Sanchez and a workshop on film with Andres Barrientos.
As relates to his musical side, David has undergone a process of intense training and qualified in both piano and vocal technique. Teachers as Orlando Betancourt (University of Cundinamarca's Professor), Maria Barbara Sampera (The Andes University Teacher), Sergio Vasquez (Teachers Teaching in HFS "Ernst Busch" in Berlin) and Rodrigo Restrepo (The Andes University Teacher) have contruibuited significantly in the field of piano. As far as vocal technique refers Velasquez is formed by the former Laura Mayolo Colombia's PopStar , current vocalist at the "Mojito Lite" Band by Carolina Melo teacher University del Bosque.
Also, Velasquez together with members of the renowned rock band Don Tetto Bogota launched in mid-2013 the project empreserial "El Toke". A dedicated and designed for the musician tested as a true star in the Colombian capital. The project brought a space constituted with the best tools in the market and with a sound and first class sound system, which has put the "El Toke" within prime locations in Bogota when it comes to play good music.
Finally and demonstrating not only national but also international scope of this promising young Colombian showing, Velasquez along with the entire team of "Ensalada de Locos" preparing a major tour of the hit play presented in Colombia but now transferred to American theatres.
